Queen Gallery is proud to invite you to Robert McAlpine’s book launch celebration on Saturday, February 8, 2019, 5 – 7 pm. Wings of Wonder, by Robert McAlpine was recently translated into Farsi by Negar M. Khorasani. This year-long venture in translating Robert’s magical poetry has now resulted in a unique collaboration that highlights the beauty of Roberts poetry from a fresh perspective.
Robert McAlpine will be at the gallery to talk about his book, Wings of Wonder, his experience as a poet, and the journey into translating these poems into Farsi. Following the talk by Robert, a few of his poems will be read. Ms Zhaleh Sadeghian, one of Iran’s top TV and Radio speakers and presenters, will be reading the poems in Farsi.
I have tasted of divinity
Have felt its stirring grasp.
How could I ever not remember
Its overwhelming feeling
A question I now simply ask?
Iraq is screaming in the distance
Upon the front page leaves its track
But divinity, alluring me
Fills me with its sweetness
