Artist Statement
Mehrdad Shoghi is amongst one of the few artists whose work has been deeply influenced by the Kufic script. Besides producing other forms of traditional Persian art, he has been able to apply calligraphy in a modern manner to his pieces. He also posesses a well-developed ability to retrieve aesthetics from the traditional paradigm, and to take these aesthetics and form them into a modern construct.
Mehrdad has held exhibitions in prestigious galleries around the world, and his works are held by recognized leading public international collections such as the British Museum and Modern Art Museum in Tehran-Iran
